Description
IGF-1 LR3, also written IGF1 LR3 or IGF-1LR3, is a single 83-residue protein chain. Its first 13 residues, Met-Phe-Pro-Ala-Met-Pro-Leu-Ser-Ser-Leu-Phe-Val-Asn, form the N-terminal extension. The other 70 follow the human IGF-1 sequence with one change: arginine in place of glutamic acid at IGF-1 position 3, which is position 16 of the full chain.
Six cysteines form three disulfide bonds, Cys19–Cys61, Cys31–Cys74 and Cys60–Cys65 in the 83-residue numbering: the same three bonds as native IGF-1, shifted by the extension. Of its three methionines, two sit in the extension and one in the IGF-1 part; methionine is prone to oxidation, so the vial should stay unopened until needed. The calculated mass is about 9.1 kDa, against about 7.6 kDa for native IGF-1.
IGF-1 LR3 is also different from IGF-1 DES, a shortened IGF-1 missing its first three amino acids (not stocked here).
