DSIP
Delta sleep-inducing neuropeptide (WAGGDASGE) for sleep-regulation and neuroendocrine research.
Description
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide (sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from rabbit cerebral blood by Swiss researchers in the 1970s. It was named for early findings that it increased delta-wave EEG activity, the signature of deep slow-wave sleep.
DSIP has been found across the hypothalamus, limbic system, and pituitary, and co-localizes with multiple hormones — pointing to broad regulatory roles beyond sleep. In published cell and animal research it has been studied for effects on sleep architecture, stress-response and neuroendocrine signaling, oxidative stress, and GABAergic pathways. Its biology remains an area of active scientific debate.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
